Marie L. (Hencratt) Haley passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior and finally rejoined her husband of 42 years, Waldo, on June 27, 2022.
Marie was born at Mrs. Allen’s Maternity Home in Red Bluff, California to John and Helen (Oliver) Hencratt on September 14, 1937. She attended Cottonwood Elementary School and Anderson High School, graduating in 1955. Her family were long-time sheep and cattle ranchers. She grew up on ranches in Shasta and Tehama Counties and was involved in all ranch-related programs. She was a member of Cottonwood 4-H Club, where she raised and exhibited many grand champion sheep and steers during her 4-H career. She was a 71-year member of Mt. Lassen Grange #417 and Anderson Mt. Lassen Grange #418, Shasta Pomona Grange #13, the California State Grange, and the National Grange. She was a member of the Shasta County Cattlemen’s Association and Native Daughters of the Golden West, Camellia Parlor. She was a member of Cottonwood First Baptist Church, and North Valley Baptist Church and attended Redding Christian Fellowship in the later years.
Marie leaves her children, Wes Haley and Julie (Bob) Jones all of Redding; a granddaughter, Hilary (Jonathan) Fischer of Spokane, Washington; a grandson Lyle Jones of Newberg, Oregon; a great-grandson, Arthur, of Spokane, Washington; a soon-to-be great-granddaughter due in early August; a sister, LaVern Albaugh of Maywood, Nebraska as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Monda Montrees and Jerika Isringhausen, and her brothers-in-law, Bill and Lonnie Haley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldo; her parents, John and Helen (Oliver) Hencratt; grandparents George and Elizabeth (Van Gelder) Oliver and John and Ruby (Gray) Hencratt, all of Cottonwood.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022, at 10:00 AM at McDonald’s Cemetery located at 1275 Continental Street in Redding, California.
In lieu of flowers, Marie requested that donations be made in her memory to Elevate Scholarship Camp, 3300 Bridger Drive, Redding, CA 96002, or online at elevatecamps.org.
And one last thing, Moma loved dessert almost more than anything, and we would like to encourage you to go with a friend or family member, eat dessert (either at home or out) and think of Marie.
Marie has been a dear friend and supporter of Elevate from the very founding of this ministry. She had a heart for God and a desire to see outreach to students. She supported the mission of Elevate through prayer and finances. She purchased bibles to be given to campers that did not have one. She gave to Project Send our scholarship program to help underprivileged students attend a week of camp.
In her honor donations will be used to continue to scholarship campers and provide them with bibles.
In loving memory of Marie Haley
